It's the return of J-Pull's Poetry Corner!
Today is DC's official Batman day, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Dark Knight. To do my part, I am posting a Batman related poem that I wrote during my junior year at EIU.
If you know the significance of the poem's title, mad props to you.

A family of three walks
out of the theater,
the boy ecstatic from seeing Zorro.
The father leads them to the back exit,
taking a shortcut through a dark alley.
The car isn’t that far, he says.
A chill fills the air, then he appears
his eyes focused on the mother’s pearls.
The father grabs him, and they struggle.
BANG! BANG! Echoes bounce off the walls.
Pearls and bodies drop to the ground,
spilling into the sewer.
He runs away, leaving the boy alone,
kneeling over his parents,
with nothing in his eyes.
the boy ecstatic from seeing Zorro.
